Don’t Quit, No Matter What
If you’re reading this maybe you’re an emotional wreck or you might know someone who’s going through it. At any given moment in life, we all have some goal we’re striving for, right? However, we’re all capable of handling life based on our experiences. One thing that’s for sure, you only fail if you quit. Possibly you’re struggling through an occupational difficulty or dealing with a relationship dilemma. As long as you keep your eyes on the prize, things will shake out one way or another. Tell yourself, even though you may be an emotional wreck now, nothing is permanent or forever. I rely on an adage I heard often in addiction recovery: This too shall pass.

Find an Exercise Routine
One of the best ways to improve your mood when you’re going through emotional pain is some sort of physical exercise routine. This can be as simple as a walk in the evening after dinner. Even if you don’t work out regularly and are out of shape, you can start small. Maybe you’re into nature? Go for a hike and get some fresh air. Get some sunlight which is good for the soul! Join a group workout class which could provide opportunities to make new connections. Like-minded people doing positive things could help push you out of that emotional wreck state you might be in. Study up on healthy foods to supplement your exercise routine.

Patience with Emotional Pain
Being in emotional pain or being an “emotional wreck” can come in many shapes and sizes. Personally, mine has been an overwhelming chest heaviness and pain that rears its ugly head randomly. Having done some personal growth work with counseling and working the steps of AA, I’ve come to understand it somewhat. However, my patience has been tested time and time again. Like any trial in life, just when you think you’re in the clear, something else or the same burden can sneak up on you again. Don’t lose hope or faith my friends. Be patient. If you’ve got a faith or fellowship to rely on, some spiritual support in these moments can give you the strength to endure.
