Intro to The Best Leadership Books of 2023!
Welcome to another inspired article my friends. Thanks so much for stopping by. I’m super excited to talk about the best leadership books of 2023! But who wants to be a leader? Well, most out there, including myself, are probably going to mumble, “Eh…I’ll pass”. Why? Because being a leader would require attributes such as taking responsibility for us and others, integrity and a long list of other personality traits and characteristics. Furthermore, those who aspire to be leaders are usually the least qualified to be such leaders. Which reminds me of a story of a young boy who becomes king after his father dies. However, after a series of economic issues, famines and the kingdom being conquered, the young boy flees for his life, losing everything he was entitled to.
What Does Leadership Mean to You?
Fortunately, this refugee had a friend in a neighboring kingdom that he decided to seek help from. After some trouble in gaining access to his king friend because he looked like a peasant, he was granted some sheep to care for. Bewildered by the offering, he decided to go along. However, shortly thereafter a pack of wolves attacked and killed all his sheep. Surprisingly, this occurred multiple times. And each time the boy returned to his king friend; he was given fewer sheep. Finally, after all the struggles the boy decided to strategize and learn how to protect his flock, eventually raising more sheep than he received with the initial gift. After all this time, the king finally rewarded the former king with his own state rule over. So, what does this have to do with the leadership?

Leadership is Learned. It Cannot Be Given.
Well, the king friend of the boy desired to teach the boy how to think for himself, utilize the resources available to him and provide experiences for growth. Simply taking a title or privilege does not make someone a leader. With the knowledge gained from raising sheep, the king was preparing the former king for greater responsibilities. Unfortunately, learning leadership traits and characteristics come with much strife, trial and error. It is through the refiner’s fire in life that we are made stronger and more capable. So, with this article on the Best Leadership Books of 2023, hopefully you can learn what it means to be a leader or even build on the skills and experiences you already possess. Leadership and Self-Deception is one of the Best Leadership Books of 2023 because it was recommended by the legendary, self-help guru Stephen R. Covey. His book the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is also an essential read for astounding leadership. However, regarding self-deception and leadership, this type of behavior will not do. Basically, lying to oneself can hinder progress for an individual, entity or organization. Denial about the state of something can be self-destructive. The Arbinger Institute “authors demonstrate that breaking out of these patterns leads to improved teamwork, commitment, trust, communication, motivation, and leadership”.
